Since 1989, Maria Montessori Kinderwelten gGmbH (formerly Montessori Kinderladen Wedding e.V.) has been supporting children in their development based on the pedagogical principles of Maria Montessori. Our children's house is located in the Berlin district of Wedding. True to Montessori pedagogy, we emphasize child-centered and individualized support, with a focus on fostering the children's independence and sense of responsibility. The children have the opportunity to learn and explore in a prepared environment that aligns with their natural interests and developmental needs.

The Golden Rainbow Chair as an Art Initiative with Purpose

The Golden Rainbow Chair #jedeskindistgold is an art initiative with a clear message and a deep educational philosophy. The project was initiated by Jutta Poppe, who, together with Cagla Erdemci and Maria Montessori Kinderwelten gGmbH, brought this idea into the public space.

 

The golden chair symbolises the place every child holds in our society. This place is not negotiable.

Gold stands for dignity and value.
The rainbow stands for diversity, individuality and belonging.

Together, they convey a clear attitude.

Children do not need to be compared or shaped to fit expectations. They are allowed to be. In their own time. With their own stories.

As a non profit organisation, we do not see education as a service but as a responsibility. Our work is based on a strong commitment to children’s rights, equal opportunities and an educational approach that respects the child as a whole person. The Golden Rainbow Chair makes this attitude visible both internally and externally.

 

It reminds us every day why we do what we do.
It invites parents to look closely and reflect.
And it gives children a quiet but powerful promise.
